Privacy during the private beta.
Niveau is an independent German-learning product based in Berlin. This notice explains the limited information we collect before and during the private beta.
Who is responsible

Joining the invitation list
If you request an invitation, we store your email address, the time of your request and how many times that address has been submitted. We use it only to manage beta access and send essential updates about Niveau. The legal basis is your consent, which you can withdraw at any time.
Your account and learning
If you join the beta, we store the account details needed to sign you in, along with your settings, answers, corrections and learning progress. If you use Google or Apple sign-in, that provider sends us the account identifiers needed to authenticate you. We process this information to provide the service you requested and keep your learning history available to you.
Language and speech processing
Exercises may send the German text, audio or source material needed for feedback to the AI, speech and content providers that power the selected activity. We limit each request to what the feature needs. These processors may handle data outside the European Economic Area under their applicable data-protection safeguards.
Abuse prevention
To prevent automated submissions, we temporarily rate-limit requests using a one-way keyed hash derived from the network address reaching our server. We do not store the raw address in the invitation-list database, and expired rate-limit records are removed.
Storage and sharing
Beta-list data is stored on infrastructure in Germany. Cloudflare processes network traffic for security and delivery, Resend may deliver account email, and configured Google, Apple, AI and speech providers process only the information needed for their functions. We do not sell your information, use it for advertising, or share it with data brokers.
Retention and your rights
We retain invitation-list details while the private beta is active, or until you ask us to remove them. Account and learning data is kept while your account is active and removed when you use the account-deletion control, subject to limited backups or records we must retain by law. You can ask to access, correct, restrict, export or delete your information, object to certain processing, withdraw consent, or lodge a complaint with your local data-protection authority.
